Remote Education Provision

Remote education provision: information for parents

The COVID – 19 pandemic impacts on all aspects of our lives and it is currently unclear what will happen in the future. Therefore, to ensure we are fully prepared for all eventualities, this information is intended to explain what to expect from remote education at St Wilfrid’s.

Remote education may be required if:

  • local or national restrictions require entire classes/bubbles to remain at home
  • an entire class/bubble are required to self-isolate because they have been identified as contacts of a confirmed case of coronavirus
  • an individual has either tested positive or has been identified as a contact of a confirmed case
The remote curriculum: what is taught to pupils at home

As often there is very little, if any, notice of periods of isolation a pupil’s first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we take all necessary actions to prepare for a longer period of remote learning.

What should my child expect from immediate remote education in the first day or two of pupils being sent home?
  • For the first two days of remote learning pupils will be provided with prepared activity sheets and an exercise book in which to record their work. This initial work will consist of, separately; a Reading exercise, Numeracy and Literacy, R.E. and suggested physical activities.
  • Pupils will be expected to bring their exercise books in to school when school is re-opened to them.
